Pimpin Strong!

Okay, this is for real.

We have a pimp living at our hotel.

No. Really. It's kind of funny, kind of annoying, and we're just kind of ready of be out of that place. Soon.

I noticed it one night when I was out tallking on the phone. I had just driven up, got out of the car, and hear d what I thought was a team of Clydesdales coming through the parking lot. It turned out that it was a hooker (complete with gold high heels and SHORT skirt). She kept walking around and finally asked if I had a cigarette. I told her no and she kept walking. Then a black Corvette came by and picked her up. They came back later and I noticed a white Cadillac pulling into the parking lot. He stayed there until she left, with the guy in the white Cadillac who I will refer to as PIMP. Long story short but he's been there pretty much every night. He watches me when I'm out there walking Manning. I figured he wants me to be a part of his crew, but I'm not doing that. Yet, anyway. I'll have to wait and see how this house thing goes. PIMP likes to hang out in our parking lot all night (I know, because Manning barks at hm all night) and drops off his "business associates." What a great city I'm living in!

But it got me to thinking, if I were to start pimping, what would I do? First, I'd trick out Holly's Nissan Quest.

Then, I'd probably need a brother by my side. I'd probably pick Manning.

I'm just getting started with this, but I think I could really make some money because I just found my first "business associate!"

I'm sure that Holly would be so proud of me. I bet the Advisory Board at Freed-Hardeman would be too. The only problem is what to classify pimping under on my tax returns.

Sliding into home!

It's getting closer and closer! We are supposed to close on the 21st! WE can't wait. Things at the hotel have gotten, well, interesting, and we're glad to be getting out of the ghetto. I know that my kids will be happy, but I think Holly will be VERY happy to be in there more than anyone. We are supposed to close at 1:00. Movers come Friday. Christmas is MONDAY! Wow, talk about sliding into home at the last minute. I hope that the family is happy. It's been a long two months and we're ready to settle in for a while. Still missing our folks in Louisville, but we're getting to see a bunch of those folks in the next few months. Funny how that happens during winter. Weird.

Pete and Sheri Blank have volunteered to come over and help us this weekend get ready for Christmas. We're borrowing some air mattresses from Jeremy and Teresa Davis (THANK YOU!). WE're blessed to have some good folks down here to help us out.

Anyway, we're glad to get into the house soon and I'll post some pics of the home when we get in it.

Get me out of this barn!

Okay, those that know me know that I truly give everyone a chance. Really I do. I think we've all got a little bit of good inside and I try to recognize that in most people.

But not last night.

I'm over it now. Tired of lazy, inept people at the front desk of our "home," tired of the red freakin tape I'm having to jump through to do anything, and ESPECIALLY tired of the lovely family that is staying down the hall from us. I don't know how long they plan to stay, but I want them to check out. Now.

Last night, at 11:30pm, this family seems to think that it's okay for their children to be playing out in the hallway. YES! AT 11:30PM!!! Unbelievable. I never want to be the old man who screams at the kids to stay off his lawn, but last night I turned into him. After shouting, "Come on!" before I reached the door, I opened said door to find not just children, but PRE-TEEN children scurrying away down the hall...into the room next to ours! Man, I'm cracking myself up writing this. I sound like an old codger. Anyway, I'll continue. I shut the door and heard the family next door to us discussing this incident loudly. I didn't care. I'm tired of the rudeness, the total lack of any sense of the people around me. I felt like I was being filmed for some DATELINE NBC test or something, just to see what I would do. COME ON PEOPLE! Your children are WAY too old to act like a bunch of kids out in the hallway, but worse is the fact the PARENTS are doing nothing about it. Trust me, the only thing cute about your kids was me picturing what I would do with 10 minutes and a roll of duct tape.

Coupled with the fact that it took me ALMOST THREE HOURS to get a Blockbuster Video card, I was ready to call to it a night.
There's nothing easy about moving. Sometimes you've just got to take a step back, sigh, and realize that it's going to pass and be okay.

So that's what I did this morning. I got up, saw Anniston and Holly off (as Anniston goes to a birthday party for a friend of hers) and Grady and I are about to go walk Manning for a nice, mid-day walk. And when I step outside this door, I'm going to whistle a little tune.

Extra loud when I go by our neighbors, of course.
